Institutional investors did the same Coke comparison for Netscape as well. The reason they are wrong is that 100% of America know what coke is. 30% of America knows about Yahoo. Of them only a few are sold on it. More people in America know of AOL or Microsoft than Yahoo or At&T.

Probably 90% of the world or more recognize coke. It's likely that less than 2% of the world recognizes Yahoo. Even less. Most chinese or africans or asians will not know what Yahoo is but know what coke is and what it stands for.

Don't swallow hype - Yahoo has a long way to go to build up a brand name as good as Nike - let alone as strong as Coke.

Perhaps 5 or 10 years from Today Yahoo will be comparable. Not yet.
