Larry,
re chain of custody this is from the second paragraph

The material was drilled under the supervision of Behre Dolbear and turned over to Colorado Mineral Research Institute (CMRI) for processing under chain of custody. CMRI under chain of custody then forwarded these samples to Ledoux & Company.

I don't have a direct answer to your second question. But I have posted in the past that I have frequently heard the maxim "Each deposit is a complex geological puzzle that needs to be solved individually".
My guess, and this is just a guess, is that with all the labs involved and all the top flight chemists who have been fiddling with this that someone finally cracked the puzzle. It is still not a standard ore and it just took time to figure the right grinding and flux.

Your third question is a good one. It has been my growing impression that the Johnson-Lett process is a work in progress and not as fully developed as we once believed. This does not at all imply that it does not add value, it appears that it does. But additional work an research may be needed to optimize it.

Henry
