Ivan, I appreciate your comments. Please note post #3428, second
paragraph. I alluded to the leaving out of signals in some instances
where it simply clogged up the chart.

By the way here's a chart of yesterday's close. A down close today will
signal a technical sell using this method.
geocities.com

PLEASE NOTE....I do not use this method per se. This was merely an example
I showed Mr. Pink some time ago (seems like years) to show that even the
simplest TA might enhance profits.

Uh, you might have noticed...he disagrees.

Anyway I use a more complex system to buy and sell and it sometimes coincides
with the above chart.

In this instance I did buy on the most recent buy signal. I sold yesterday morning
and will buy again as I deem appropriate.

I am a trader here....this should NOT influence anyone...I try to buy and sell on
a strictly emotionless technical system.

A little info on weighted Moving Averages...the example in the chart is the 10 day.

A weighted moving average is also designed to put more weight on recent data and less weight on past data. A weighted moving average is calculated by multiplying each of the previous day's data by a weight. The following table shows how a 5-day weighted moving average is calculated.

Day No. Weight * Price = Weighted Price
1 1 25 25
2 2 26 52
3 3 28 84
4 4 25 100
5 5 29 145
Totals 15 133 = 27.067
Note how the 5-day weighted moving average gives five times more weight to today's price (i.e., 5 * 29) than to the price five days ago (i.e., 1* 25).

Good luck,

Stan
