Yes the -8 MU parts are all 125Mhz parts.

As in the -8A and-8E are both capable of 125Mhz CL=3
but only the -8E part can do CL=2 at 100Mhz.

The whole spec naming thing is a mess... every company has its
own lingo for it. There is very little standardization. In general
the industry likes to call SDRAM's by there CL=3 performance,
but that's no rule.

There is something I feel I need to add to the PC100 discusions
and that is there is another spec called tAC. This is the speed
at which data comes out after a clock edge. In a 100Mhz bus the
the clock period is 10ns. The tAC spec for PC100 is 6ns. This
means the SDRAM needs have valid data on the memory bus 6ns
after the clock edge goes high.

This is proving difficult to achieve with "wider" SDRAM's X16
and X32. These wider SDRAM's are needed for 32MB DIMM's and 16MB
DIMMsother wise the smallest RAM you can offer is 64MB. Which
maybe ok in a few months.

Anyway this tAC spec does not change for CL=3 or CL=2 parts and
therefor for a CL=3 part tAC=6 is the hardest thing to meet. The
reason this is important is that I hear that so far DRAM vendors
have been "cherry picking" there parts to send as samples to
the box OEM's.

When it comes time to fill production orders there maybe a
temporary shortage of PC100 parts due to the tAC requirments. BTW
this tAC=6 is key to making the 100Mhz board work because of
the time delays in a PC bus.

But again... if PC100 parts come at too much a premium over what
people like to call PC66 parts... OEM's will hold back on production
because the high cost is to difficult to pass on to the channel.

Look of CPQ struggle... today there are rumors that even giving
away free monitors with the boxes is not moveing merchendise... The
price of PC's have become very inelastic, And the volume
price curve gets real steep after $1000... even businesses are
catching on sn corporte buyers are going for low price instead
of performance.

This is all bad for the DRAM... PC100 or not.
