Don't know if anyone has mentioned this news, but here it is...

"HP, Sony, Philips, Ricoh and Mitsubishi corp. tomorrow will unveil a new CD-ROM technology that lets users record information onto discs."

"This new CD-ROM format would also be able to read existing CD's"

"The new CD-Rewritable would be able to hold 600MB of information"

"The five companines said the first products with this new technology are expected next year"

Guess the big announcement is tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how fast the new technology is and what the cost is going to be. If it's priced right it will give IOMG a run for it's money.

Maybe this will be the standard that the industry is waiting for!

Does anyone have any more info on this??
