Scanning messages to find the ones you want to read is a much better approach than Ignoring messages. The way I handle this now is by scanning the summary page that lists all the responses to a particular thread. If the poster can't get my interest in the first line summary .... I don't read it.

I know I miss some potentially good messages by doing this. It would be better if the summary listing included the first TWO lines of a message. Most times you can figure out where people are going with a message by reading the first two lines. This way you keep the continuity of the thread and don't waste bandwidth reading "one line wonders" or other uninteresting posts.

I think the current design lets the first 80 characters or to the first carriage return be displayed in the thread summary. If this could be changed to the first 160 characters and ignore carriage returns I would be a very happy camper.
