One more thing.... Smart cards and other ecommerce ideas need certificates that can be issued dynamically, on demand. Also the certificates must have the ability to be produced as quickly as possible. DVNTF's certificate is very small compared to others. Also, with a decentralized solution, certificates can be issued at a much faster rate. Far faster than VRSN or other "Authorities".
