Quad, with all due respect, you guys are asking me to relive all the miserable words I've pounded into this thread. It's all here. The biggest problem I have is when Young canned Frankenburg, who IMO was not ideal but was making progress, and announced a CEO search. He then took the helm as CEO and COB, collected 10K a week, put Marengi in charge, gave him his phone number, and let the company totally fall apart at a very crucial point in time. Per his own admission in a story posted somewhere on this thread "the company fell asleep". I believe it's commonly accepted the CEO search didn't even start in earnest till almost 3 months later. He oversaw the channel stuffing (being an ex HP exec, he knew what he was doing IMO) and did absolutely nothing to deal with the marketing problems and the stealth mode that Novell is known for operating in. This never should have happened, is impossible to understand, and it wasted way a lot of folks cash, while the almighty Mr Young pocketed 10K a week. He seems to have been the kingpin if the "what, me worry" attitude this company maintained for so long. Way back when someone posted the companies priorities from an old handbook...shareholders were #3. Anyone else with Mr Youngs track record at the helm of Novell was canned, but for some reason Mr Youngs gross negligence is acceptable.
I further seriously question the Novonyx arrangements and these crazy construction plans. This company has shown no signs until recently of acting responsibly to shareholders, and understanding the trouble they were/are in.
Mr Young lives on, and until the BOD is shaken up will continue to run the company IMO. IMO, when push comes to shove, Dr Schmidt has no control, and we're still under the potential curse of the forces that helped put Novell where it is. As I commented above however, this may be coming to an end, which in my IMO will leave a potential powerhouse company.
Maybe someone else might care add to this.
