This may not be so timely but I finally got a response from a major global corp. (re: Addressing Y2K)

Vince Pelzer, My name is Paul Couvillion. I am the Year 2000 Global
Director For DuPont. I apologize for the long delay in answering your
question. The internal transmission of e-mail from outside the company did not reach me. I received only the header with no text and received the fax copy today from Catherine Platt Irwin, our Customer Telecontact.

DuPont is actively engaged in a large multi Business unit project with
plans to become compliant within various time horizons through the next 24 months.

Regarding process control. The safe, continuous, operation of our many manufacturing units is of critical importance to DuPont. We have mounted a global, company wide, activity with projects at each plant site to inventory, assess compliance, assess risk, plan remediation, test and return to service the multitude of process control devices and systems in our plants. In addition we have parallel work streams in each of our Business units to become compliant.

I am optimistic that our plans will result in our meeting the very tight timelines required by the extremely challenging "Millennium Issue".

Thanks you and I hope this answers your question.

Paul Couvillion

I've sent a follow up asking:

Paul:

Thanks for your response. It appears DuPont has taken a proactive, and what I consider positive, steps to deal with this problem.

I do have 2 follow-up questions. What steps, in context to your process controls, is DuPont taking with your supply chain to minimize outside resource complications in context to the Y2K problem (ie. getting supplies to your plants without disruptions).

Second question is DuPont going to need to outsource to assist with any remediation?

Thanks in advance to your response.

I will post his response.......vpelt
