All:

Is it possible that the first quarter malaise that is effecting Iomega this year is what the box makers have every January ???

The one thing that is not fully understood in the technology business is the cyclical nature of the business . When you combine this with the high obsolescence factor in the tech . business you can get something close to chaos when you try to quantify the future .

With Iomega up to this point in time we have seen the Zip drive , that accounts for some 75% of their sales , grow at a fantastic rate with the sales of the external model .

Iomega this last year has moved into the OEM market with the internal Zip . This has made Iomega vulnerable to the cyclical nature of the tech. business IMO .

When the box mfgs. cut back in January as they always do . This had an impact at Iomega the likes of which that we have never seen before with Iom . This being the case , I would expect that their orders will pick up dramatically in quarter 2 .

I was looking at some of the Box Mfgs. profiles and found that some have adopted a year that ends in January to level off this first quarter effect . If Iomega would adopt this model it would modify the quarter 4 to quarter 1 effect going forward .
