If MSFT wants to take something over and they are having trouble, they just offer their product for free until it catches on. At that price, even an inferior product will take market share. Then, once their customers are locked in, they start extracting their profits. You see this pattern with MS Money, their browser, and possibly others I can't think of. With this capability, MSFT will lose very few battles.

I wonder how they will do in the gaming arena? Here it is mostly creativity that counts, not muscle. They will, of course, have an easier time getting shelf space than their competitors. Is this their only competitive advantage?
