Solaris has been around for many years ( about 4 I guess) and Sun has stopped improving SunOS ever since, it is my impression most sun users has switched from SunOS to Solaris, but I am sure there are some still using SunOS and refuse to switch for various reasons. I agree that 32-bit Sparc market still has some life left in it, but it is like a 70 year old man, there is no future ! In the last six months or so, four collegues asked me for information about Sun workstations, I gave them infromation on both Sparc 20 and Ultra-Sparc, none of them even wanted to look at Sparc 20, all bought Ultra. I may be wrong, but I don't think Sparc-line will sell well six month from now. However, from purely price point of view, RTEC may be able to bounce back a little for a while. If the company is heavily dependent on selling upgrade chips, it is heading for big trouble.
