Greetings to All,

Msnbc reported that several government agencies are significantly behind the curve and that contingency plans should be made possible crippling of govt functions such as air traffic control, natl defense, benefit payments AND for everyday conveniences such as home security systems, elevators, etc. (i.e. a reference to embedded chips!). Mr. Dodardo, the asst. comptroller general for the GAO testified to this fact to two subcommittees today. He also stated that he expects costs to escalate by a factor of 3 to 4 times due to increasing demand of programmers.

Also, on CNBC Business Center, they talked about the legal cost implications of y2k. They estimate about a trillion and a half. Are there any publicy traded companies that specialize in legal services or provide services to the legal community? The only company I know of is Pre Paid Legal (PPD). Are there any others?

Thanks to all,
Patricia
