Well, interesting subject, Shalom, and one I must butte in on as usual. The name Yeshua. That WAS the Lord Jesus Christ's name. The name given whereby all men could be saved was in fact, Yeshua, if I am to believe the Bible. And I believe that I do, in fact, believe the Bible.
Why was it necessary to change Yeshua to Jesus? Jesus had no meaning whatsoever. I think it is interesting to look up where and why the Holy Spirit (humm? Was it?) Assigned the new name of "Jesus".
Good study. Where in the world did Jesus come from? What bearing does it have on Yeshua? Yeshua seems to me to be perfect. Yeshua the Christos, the Christ, the annointed one. It seems that the only strange word here is the English/Germani Jesus. I just don't know why it was necessary in the first place to depart from the original name of Jesus. John is from Johannanan, Simon is Peter, all names were changed to please the English of King James Court. Of all things not to condemn, calling Jesus by the name GOD gave Him at birth seems something that should be unworthy of any Christian's scorn.
Is there a problem with this? You bet, since I tended to think of the apostles myself as Englishmen until I got saved and realized how rediculous that was.
Can any of this "Yeshua" should not be spoken among us--only the English or whatever version is Holy--behavior ACTUALLY be inspired by the Holy Spirit? ANd if not, who inspires it? Good question, isn't it? I definitely think it is, and this whole sick mess is starting over again, isn't it? |
