Hawk ... re support at 20 ... I hope we don't test it either !
I find it kind of interesting how analysts work (I realise I am not alone in this). I've recently suffered at their hands when I was short Cymi and short 3Com. Both got upgraded after awful earnings announcements and doubts going forward.... it was nonsense and I remember how the number of 'experts' touting 3Com at that time grew as the price reacted to all the hype. Course they have retrenched since, but they both ran up considerably. Then there's the chipmakers ... I just never understood how Micron could appreciate ... they are in deep deep trouble, but after the prior quarter all kinds of garbage was spouted about Asia and DRAM prices going forward .. and the momentum turned positive and drove the stock up 16 points with the help of upgrades !. Today, to a lesser extent, there was Bay.
So .... as I personally believe none of these companies are even close to Compaq in stature, nor in a position to manage their way out of their problems ... I wonder how much longer it will be before we hear positive things from Wall Street about Compaq. As usual, it seems that the street can handle really awful news ... but not uncertainty. Let's hope Compaq management do something to improve that because I get the impression that they have been less than forthcoming with the analysts that cover them. This can really hurt the stock price when bad times hit. Whoops .... sorry .. I've been rambling !!
