While the bid and ask does in fact represent the "# of shares
in a lot" on the NYSE, I have always understood the bid and
ask on NASDAQ to represent the # MMs that will guarantee not
less than 1000 shares at the given bid or ask price.

Just my two cents worth. Could be wrong.
