The packet filter is an immediate fix for the UDP port 9 security issue. In addition, Ascend has implemented a software fix within the MAX and Pipeline that will eliminate the need for the UDP port 9 packet filters. This software fix will be available shortly, providing the same level of security as the packet filter and restoring normal functionality to the Java-Based Ascend Configurator, MAXDial, and MAXLink Pro. For now, the applications and impact are as follows:
