Packard Bell enters the market too late and tried to capture the market by selling PCs cheaply. They did capture the market from behind, but because they were selling PCs too cheap, they were not making money. That was the reason for Packard Bell's down fall. It had very little to do with how good or bad their PCs were.
Anyway, with the earning around the corner I think you are probably better off cover your shorts out right and then consider a short after the earning (see what happened to CPQ).
