Oakley Completes Direct Operations Expansion In Japan

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 1998--Oakley Inc. (NYSE:OO) Thursday announced it has expanded its direct distribution operations in Japan to now include the influential surf and snowboard retail channels, adding to its previously established direct operations in the snow ski, bicycle, sunglass specialty and sporting goods retail channels.
"There is tremendous potential for Oakley to further cultivate demand in this large and influential market," said Link Newcomb, Oakley's chief executive officer.

Oakley products are available in more than 70 countries worldwide. The company currently has direct distribution operations throughout Europe and in South Africa, Mexico, Central America and Japan. In other parts of the world, Oakley products are sold through selected distributors with local expertise.
