hi Jen, there are many ways to trade long calls and puts.
an option consists of intrensic and extrensic value,
ie, value connected to the stock, and time value.

if you know a stock may make big moves out of the
money options are wonderful.

if you think the stock may move alittle bit then
in the money move with the stock.

i also make few day option trades and longer option trades
which include leaps.

options give you great leverage, BUT you
can lose all your money.

only trade with money you can afford to lose.
never trade with money that if you lose, it
will change your lifestyle.
i enjoy the challenge and want to keep improving.

you need to find the way to trade that you are comfortable
with. maybe paper trade options first.
good luck, ag
