If one were to purchase January 2000 LEAPS, and, say in 1999, LORAL merges or is bought out by another company- what happens to those options? Do you still have options on those shares, even after the conversion to cash or shares of another company, or does the contract just immediately expire? Is one of the bets that your making that the company won't merge?
