<<<SGP has announced they will register "Vasomax" in Mexico. Licensed to them by ZONA. Oral phentalomine mesylate for MED. I just wanted to collect an opinion if this was a direct competitor to VVUS or PFE's product, and if yes, how late will it be in USA.>>>
As far as I know, ZONA has yet to complete phase III trials of Vasomax and has yet to file a new drug application with the FDA. If they do file after the approval of Viagra, they will not be eligible for expedited review so the usual one-year or more review process will then ensue.
From the scientific side, the drug in Vasomax is old and non-patentable, they claim that the way they deliver it, will make it work. Having followed this field for a while I don't expect SGP to ever recover their initial 10 million investment in Zonagen. But, we have no more data on Vasomax than we have on Viagra. In any case it will be in the market a year later, at least, than Viagra, not a position where I'd want to start marketing an oral competitor.

P.S. I'll try to put together a 1st quarter forecast for VVUS in the next few days, will be tough, don't know how much "American" product got shipped from the old plant to England. |
