Old news exactly, thats why I have a hard time buying into that theory. But isn't it getting close to "window dressing" time - the time that mutual fund companies start dumping issues to lock in their profits for year end? This also contributes to the January effect when they all re-enter the market to load up an issues for the new year. Additionally, many people subscribe to the theory that the upcoming election will have a negative impact as well. I thought that this would have begun sooner, but maybe they were waiting for ibm and msft reports first. Can anyone else contribute to this?
