Caxton, re: MOT gets the boot, and LU gets the loot. The pooch must be out playing golf today. When he reads your post, I have visions of that really embarrassing 'thing' where he loses motor control, rolls on his back, paws and tail goin' lickety split--god what a sight! Am I losing perspective or is MOT's bad hair month turning into a bad hair year? Seriously, why wouldn't those folks drop the Q litigation B.S., make love not war, and get some CDMA help before Lucent just puts them out of their misery once and for all? Y'all know I've never been an MOT fan, but this is turning into a pretty fascinating b school case study. Let's see here: pagers, Power Chips for the Mac, semiconductors, and CDMA infrastructure that doesn't work. Oh, forgot about Iridium on which they'll probably make some dough in spite of themselves but at which they'll always be second banana to G* in particular, LOR and Hughes in general. This is not a pretty sight: pager sales are in the dumper, the Power Chip project is mothballed and a couple of hundred million went south, there are enough semiconductors on the planet to give everybody a sub $1000 work station, and Momma Lucent is calling and raising at every turn. Me thinking that their appetite for a losing law suit with the Q is looking less than voracious. What say you guys? Mike Doyle |
