Industry
The market for analysis & design software tools is estimated to exceed $1.2 billion in 2000, compared with $250 million in 1996. Cayenne is the leader in the market with a 19 percent share in 1996.
Business Overview
Cayenne is a world class provider of analysis and design software to such leading software developers as Lucent Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Chase Manhattan Bank and AT&T. These companies use Cayenne design tools to create databases and data warehouses, blueprint applications before development begins, engineer technical-embedded real-time software and evolve to the object-oriented development approach.
There are three methods of computer software analysis & design: data driven, structured and object oriented. Object-oriented (O.O.) is the newest method. Cayenne also is a major supplier of the other two development approaches and is helping programmers convert to O.O.
Cayenne is the only analysis & design company which allows interplay between all computer software analysis and design methods. Cayenne's co-existence strategy of offering all approaches to work on the same project at the same time is very user-friendly and unique. Instead of forcing programmers to new approaches all at once, Cayenne allows evolution. This means Cayenne's customers don't have to discard their previous methodologies and systems; they can co-exist and gradually migrate to O.O.
Another major differentiation is scalability for collaborative team development requiring multi-user support. Cayenne's industrial strength and strong global customer support capability make it the clear vendor of choice for the larger development projects.
Marketing
Cayenne has a national and international sales force as well as subsidiaries throughout Europe, Asia and South America and distributors in East & West Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. A direct sales effort is supplemented by alternate channels of distribution to include system integrators, telesales and the Internet. Cayenne's products are sold and serviced in over 60 countries. Fifty-five percent of Cayenne's revenues are generated outside of North America.
Technical Support and Professional Services
Cayenne's technical and commercial application specialists form strategic alliances with leading customers. They help software groups solve problems before they occur, and assist the client in developing the most effective software solution.
Markets and Customers
For technical-embedded applications, Cayenne has penetrated the military/aerospace, telecommunications, electrical manufacturing, automotive, software and system integration industries.
For management information systems applications, Cayenne has achieved a significant presence inside the financial services, telecommunications, utilities, retail, government and global manufacturing industries.
Cayenne lists as its customers more than 2,000 global industry leaders including Motorola, AT&T, NASA, Chase Manhattan Bank, IBM, General Motors, Whirlpool, NASDAQ, Barclays and Hertz.
