Greystone, the same thing could have happened right here in America. We had plenty of Antisemitism and still do.
Germany was coming out of WW1, the war to end all wars and the people were in the midst of a depression. In comes Hitler with his thugs, the NAZI Stormtroopers and he begins to put unity and food back into the German nation. He builds the Autobann, factories, and people begin to have jobs and pride in their country once again. The German people were proud of themselves and initially, Hitler was a savior to them. Once in power, he began to build tanks, airplanes and bombs. World conquest was definitely on his mind. At that point, it was to late for the German people to resist him. If any one has any shame, it should have been Pope Pious and the Catholic Church for looking the other way.
