Sorry Daniel, but I still don't understand what you are trying to say.

At this point, I don't know if you want to. Though you're the first one here to question what I thought was an obviously sarcastic point, so maybe I've been going over people's heads. There's more to OSR2 than FAT32, that's just the most obvious thing. True, FAT32 is problematic enough, with the various incompatibilities it introduces. But, whose fault is that? And there's other stuff not available elsewhere. The official list:

FAT32, DriveSpace Update, Power Management Improvements,
Storage Enhancements,PCMCIA Enhancements , PCI Bridging/Docking, IRQ Routing, Intel MMX Support, NDIS 4.0, Automatic Scandisk
on boot, Online Services Folder (from microsoft.com )

Plus, a bunch more stuff available by download. Granted, a lot of the above is only relevant with newer hardware, but Win95 in general is probably only relevant with newer hardware, what's it like on a 486? And it's not exactly "customer friendly" to have all the other add-ons "available for download", given the prevalence of the reformat, reinstall maintenance procedure. The issue of bug fixes is somewhat unclear also.

Or is the line that the retail release compliance measure was really meant as a sincere attempt, and the technoweenies were being grossly unfair in the "raised middle finger" characterization? That is, if you leave aside the obviously insulting offer of the non-bootable OSR2-(all files on the IE4 disk).

Cheers, Dan.
