3, About Y2k; - the "legacy"-software is one part of the problem, the biggest problem however is the so called "embedded software", - although only a very small portion of the billions of machineries will fail, consequences can (and will) be big. - PC's are not per definition Y2k-compliant, even recent models, - IRS needs to make 130.000 PC's Y2k-compliant. They expect problems to make it before 1 jan 2000 - there also is a problem with the fact that 2000 is a leap-year - the expected costs to solve the Y2k-problem are constantly increasing - don't forget about the tremendous (and increasing) shortage of IT-personel - it will be a nightmare, one way or the other - but I don't think it will seriously hurt Dell For software to check if your PC is Y2k-compliant go to this link y2kpcpro.com Paul
