(way offtopic) - Dear Larry: thx for the tip on Biryni. I like his style alot. I agree with you that some of the rocket science is bewildering [to me anyway.] One of the possible explanations is that pipe dream [dated back to the 50s] of the supremacy of mathematics.
Of course, IMHO, there is also a lot of self-fulfilling prophecy. If enough people use TA as their trading tool, it in effect load the dices somewhat. So, if many people are using the same mathematics formula, it may very well validate itself in a backward manner. Is that the partial problem of program trading? Ultimately, as Stan Weinstein of the Prof Tape Reader fame has said one time, the followers of TA follow and never lead. So, in that sense, Victor is absolutely right on. Somehow, somewhen, the FA bulls/bears will lead the charge, be it breaking new grounds or executing a reversal.
