That has been stated many times as the reasons Benz is not considering the ITS.

"although it recognized the ITS as superior (and perfected as well, so more quickly available to the marketplace), it didn't want to have a "me, too" product in its own vehicles."

Which goes to show SMU's poor (non) marketing of their product. Does the Benz have an airbag? How many other makes also have air bags? Safety first! I think that statement is an excuse for the marketing dept., (Autoliv) to push their own products vs SMU's. That statement has rung UGLY for the past year and the first clue that someone was diverting attention to the real facts.
