Internet Training to the Desktop Introduced by The Network Connection
ATLANTA, March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Network Connection, Inc. (Nasdaq: TNCX - news; TNCi), an Atlanta-based designer, manufacturer and distributor of computer networking products that provide digital video/audio on-demand, imaging and multimedia processes, announced today that they have finalized agreements with multiple content developers, to deliver multimedia training directly to the desktop through the Internet.

TNCi has long been a leading manufacturer of the Cheetah server family used for delivering hundreds of streams of full-motion, full-screen, interactive multimedia courseware in the Intra-corporate environment. They were also the first to offer a program called Courseware-On-Demand (COD) whereby corporate training departments access a library of off the shelf and custom programs on a Pay For Use basis. This innovative concept eliminated a training department's need for an extensive, company owned library of programs on CD-ROM or Video Tape that quickly go out of date or are only occasionally used.

TNCi's newest innovation of Internet-Courseware-On-Demand (ICOD) will allow employees of subscribers, direct access to training programs from the Internet browser in their desktop computer. According to Wil Riner, CEO of TNCi, ''Studies have shown that learning can be accelerated if it is presented in a 'student paced' environment. The studies also show that learners can retain up to 75% of new information provided they both see and hear the new information AND do something with it. TNCi feels that by using the new information available on a Just-In-Time basis. People can accelerate their learning and put their new skills to work immediately.''

Wil Riner, CEO of TNCi, ''ICOD reaffirms TNCi's leadership position in this emerging market by pushing total capabilities and functionality to new levels while remaining extremely competitive.''

This service will become available in May 1998.

TNCi, designs, manufactures and distributes the Cheetah(R) family of video server platforms which enable the storage and delivery of video data to local area networks. Cheetah(R) servers are used to bring interactive, on-demand, full-motion video training, education and entertainment to the networked client computers in the corporate, home, educational and train, hotel, aircraft, and cruise ship travel related entertainment and transport environments.
