That particular "coil" you refer to occurred precisely at the intersection of 2 moving averages that I use, 8 and 34 on a 5-minute tick.

I have noticed that the market tends to bunch as the 2 lines approach each other and then often rapidly takes off within a few bars later.

"Which way" is always the judgement call.

For the past hour they have been well apart from each other, forecasting this consolidation which as yet is still going on.

It appears they shall converge again in about 30 minutes, perhaps a little less.

In addition, I just noticed the slow stochastic is turning up and the %K just crossed the %D....implying an "upwards" move.
