Bernie, OFF TOPIC <<Such as dropping the "h" from "auspice"? >>
So, you'd be recommending some quality hospice time for our ailing biotech investment? A place to seek refuge from the pit and prat falls of sideways platform flying? Maybe lay low for awhile till the lift arrives? Hmmm...
Speaking of many things: to me, comparing a stock like Dell to a stock like Ligand seems a lot like comparing a stock like Ligand to a stock like Dell. On the other hand, I have wondered what might be the examples of successful biotech ventures, measured in terms of rewards to forward looking individual investors such as ourselves, from which we might draw inspiration and encouragement, and to which we might draw useful parallels. What are the R&D biotechs that have succeeded, and is there an apparent model for success? (A related question, why don't we simply invest in the major drug pharms?) Is Ligand like these successful companies, making the same kinds of "moves", on the same path, etc.? Does Ligand look a lot like X looked in its early stages? Did Ligand learn from X, has it avoided the kind of mistakes made by X, doing things better or worse than X? Or, perhaps sideways platform flying is just something one has to make up as one goes along. Hmmm...stray musings on a Spring day.
Happy investing,
John
