Intel is cutting prices because they have done a very poor job of explaining to people why they need chips in excess of 300 megahertz. It's not going to make surfing the web faster, or balance a checkbook faster, or type a letter or send e-mail faster. I just bought a P-200 and for what I use the computer for (which is also what 99% of people use it for), it is lightning fast. Intel has great brand name (and lousy ads) but please, tell me what I am missing out by not having a PII-300+ CPU? Nothing, of course. I just saw an ad today for a P-200 system from Packard Bell w/monitor & printer for $999! That is where the business is going to go. Intel will be stagnating over the next year in financial terms because of this. They have to make acquisitions (like CRUS) or brainwash people into upgrading in order to keep their profits up.
