This came to me from a friend regarding ECOs for those that know what they mean:

That is the latest in a series of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) issued by ASND to
correct a problem of failing products in the field.

It details:
1. A change to be made by Ascend's suppliers (Jabil, Plexus...) must make before they
can ship parts to Ascend. (Ascend has not received parts since last week.)

2. Ascend must make those same changes to all parts in their existing inventory before
they can be shipped to customers. (The "parts" go into the "systems" that Ascend sells,
so they can't ship anything.)

3. Customers that purchased the product before must return it to Ascend for free
upgrade. (That will go on over a period of months, cost Ascend money and makes the
customers mad, but not really that big of a deal.)

This happens from time to time in high tech and no one usually hears about it. (Ascend
has reworked those SPs twice before.) The reason it is significant now is that, as you
know, they had planned to back end load the quarter (that means the first two months
were not too strong and they planned to make it up in the last few weeks.)

At this time, it is not known if they can repair enough product in time or if orders will
be cancle or delayed as a result.
