Re: why buy now...

Sorry for being glib there. Just didn't like the general comment that the price "seems high" with no reasoning.

There's a lot of info on the thread about the merits of the company - do your due diligence and read up before you buy. I'll just say they've got cash, an exceptional dedicated mgmt team that has done this before (MFS), and an industry that needs more competitors. Level 3 is not a typical startup - it's a spinoff of a company that has a great track record in its own right - Kiewit.

Re: stock price - it's on a bulletin board, it's not marginable, there were a few weeks where it went up about $4 PER DAY, and it's actually holding up in the upper 60s. It did a dip to the mid-upper 50s a few days ago and snapped back immediately. Imagine what happens when this stock is marginable and hits the regular Nasdaq, not to mention when L3's PR engine gets cranking. Most people (even in telecom) have never even heard of L3. Momentum players use their margin to obtain maximum gain in a bull market and they're barely involved at this point since cash stocks use twice the buying power of margin.

Don't buy without reading up on the company and getting comfortable. But you better read up quick. $69 will be long gone soon enough. You're well ahead of the pack if you're asking now.
