Dear Valueman:

I think some serious analysis of the economics of gigabit
data by satellite needs to be performed. Within the
US and Europe, I would say that fiber + 2-way cable modems
or fiber + fixed broadband wireless (LMDS at 28Ghz or in
the 38-40GHz band) may provide some very tough competition
to satellite services.
