Ravi, thanks for your inputs about 3com. I got stuck in 3com right now due to a sudden big drop last October due to the inventory problem.

But coms is still a pretty good company :

1. It has a really good brand-new line of Enterprise products. Its soon to be released CoreBuilder 9000 can forward 56 million packets/sec. Does BAY has a next generation of Accelar to compete with this beast ??? BAY Accelar 1200 is equivalent to CoreBuiler 3500 - both forward at around 7 mpps.

2. Our former friend Willy, who calls himself an "Networking Expert", really likes COMS' products now (like the SuperStack 3900) - and I tends to believe in him !

3. Coms develops all its Layer-3 switches and Gigabit switches IN-HOUSE, so there won't be any integration problems. Whereas BAY and Cisco purchased all these technologies from outside and they will face integration problems as these switches are getting more and more complicated - hardware wise. Cisco is obviously having such problems with its Granite purchase. BAY could also be having problems with its Rapid City purchase since I don't seems to hear about any new product offerings.

Just some discussion.
