I think a comparison between networkers and box makers might be instructive in the sense that they are both touted as high growth industries but becoming increasingly commoditized. It is a fact with the exception of Cisco, share prices of this group have remained relatively unchanged or even down over the past year. All this while the internet has really exploded all over the place. I think the same might be instore for box makers. Unit growth is not brisk enough to replace shrinking asp's and margins.
Networking stocks like asnd and coms have become lucrative "trading" stocks but not long term plays, do you think this is what will happen to the box makers?
What concerns me about Compaq is not the break even quarter but flat revenue growth, if they're giving the stuff away they should be showing decent sales and market share increases. This remains to be seen.
