Eric,re:"Minor slip". Hope so. I would be nervous if I were a
MSFT owner. (To be honest, I'm a partial investor of MSFT, see, the
spouse and her family bought MSFT together). So, I'm neutral in
someway. Sunw has the stuff. But just having stuff doesn't give you
right to the money.

Let's see if sunw can sell the stuff and protect the stuff from
the KING(MSFT).

MSFT depends on upgrades. The winXX don't bring much dough. It's
the other Gotcha that have been the thorns for IT/corporate user.
Must be pain to "upgrade" ALL the software for ALL the machines.

I don't believe win98 is an successful 'upgrade'. Many articles
suggested it not a MUST have release. It will bring the next wave
of new PC buyers.

Since I use PC only for surfing, the 'Upgrades' doesnot hurt me.
I'm still with Win3.1.

With Java, it's even better if more than HWP has cloned the JVM.

Java, solaris, storage business, servers, that's plenty of business.
With cpu and hardware so plentifull/powerful, Solaris/Linux is a
very suitable OS for PC. What a strange coincidence. Afterall,
wasn't that's the reason IBM needed a DUMB-OS(DOS) on the PC
because of lack of everything to begin with.

Maybe things come around thru circle and we have 'real-OS' on PC.

The way I see it. The backdrop for MSFT is a lot worse that INTEL's
problem with CYRIX/ADM, IMHO.

But MSFT is still a good money generating machine, because of it's
monopoly situation. With so much money, Bill probably can buy his
way out.
