PX, my thinking is that IF Intel wants Device Bay to succeed, they will incorporate 1394 support in the core chipset - just like USB. IF this happens:

1) There will never be much of a market for 1394 add in cards
2) SCSI and ATA devices will transition to 1394
3) Demand for SCSI host adaptors will dry up, killing Adaptec's cash cow.
