Tim,
I've been trying to deal with the same problem. I've tried WinProxy which works to some extent but not all applications will function with out extensive setup (ie RT III, Ichat pager etc) One product which was suggested to me on another thread was NAT1000 ( http:/www.nevod.com ) although I have not tried this product - it functions as a VPN as opposed to a proxy server and claims that all client apps will run "as is" The product description on their site refers to having to have have 2 NICs on the machine which connects to the internet - I checked with Nevod tech support and they tell me that a modem qualifies as an NIC although the current version of the product does not support dial on demand.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards,
Fred
