I don't understand the fear this thread is displaying over Ascend's earning's report for this quarter. Everyone sure seems to have short memories. In January we all assumed that Ascend targeted their earnings to the analysts estimates, just beating the number to begin some momentum. The common feeling was that they kept some income in their pocket for later in the year. Where do you think that surplus has gone??? Don't you feel that they will manage this quarter's earnings the same way? When Dennis talked to their IR department they reiterated how important this quarter was to Ascend. You don't start blowing a lot of smoke at your shareholders just a few weeks before earnings, because when the real number come out you have to live with it. I'd feel a lot more uncomfortable if she had said she "hoped" things would turn out ok.

This quarter was in the bag last quarter. They are focusing on how to manage earnings for the 2nd half of the year, which they said would be strong for them. Last quarter's earnings pushed the stock to a high of 38. This quarter, with some positive comments during the CC, will push the stock even higher. This stock is dirt cheap in the 30's and a few good quarters will return it to the levels of the past.

So lighten up with the gloom and doom!! They brought in Ashby to do exactly what he is doing and from what I can see, everything is tracking perfectly to the plan.
