Thanks for the link. Your comment with respect to the discrediting of contrarians reminds me of John Lennons' song "Imagine". Imagine no religion. What remains when there is no religion is a void, which is in essence a religion in itself. For man to exist with no religion is not likely. Many remote tribes of the Amazon, New Guinea, for example have been discovered to have some religious rituals that respect a higher authority.

That a dogma is created and supported by the faithful through generations creates an absolute truth amongst the followers. To upset that dogma via alternative thoughts is heresy. To condemn free-thinkers as heretics and condemn them is a witch hunt. The irony is that the witch hunters are the wicked for their acts of condemnation. Hitler burned books, and imprisoned and murdered the free-thinkers.

God created us as thinkers, some men push God aside and usurp our freedom. Those men are not friends of God, and therefore he must be on the opposite side. As it says in the Bible watch out for the false prophets.
