Robert, I would like to see a list by year of products. Since the Apple was first mass market it got the high ground. If it got the firs word processor then there can never be a catchup. The only other emasure would be total new releases/new programs per year by platform. So word would get an entry for each ver for each platform. That would of course make a different picture as there are more Wintels they would win. One might ask what happened if Apple was first and so good. What happened is "open platform Wintel" If IBM had been a closed and proprietary platform we would have a far different iniverse with many more players than Apple and IBM with different platforms. The extreme low cost of the WIntel platform squeezed all the others either out of business or into WIntel, and even then some are long gone pioneers. It makes no sense to think of adventuresomeness as a machine attribute, it is a personal attribute and the user of Apple are as varied as those of Wintel(though less numerous, they are the same in all other attributes, statitically speaking, even though there are concentrations in certain areas. Of course you say the wintels are problem solvers and the apples are users? You are more adventuresome that way, the "what now?" syndrome. There is a search for higher margin machines at dealers and apple might get a few more dealers, but they will be prey to the price thing as well.Apple will still be pricier, and is the new spped set coming from apple as fast as intel?
