Alcatel is not a sleeper. It is one of the most heavy traded stocks on the Paris bourse. It is WIDELY followed in Europe, it plays in the same league as Siemens. I bought it January 1997, and sold a bit too early in Jan this year. The recent run-up has made the stock expensive. I would wait for the next retraction before buying again. European stocks have become quite expensive in general. Has anyone seen what happened to Olivetti ? (up more than 200% from its lows....) -oliver
