Somewhere--recorded in the dark depths of XXXXX- is a URL posted by Bob MAckey that advertised durian condoms. He had been on a durian quest that located numerous facts and sites on the famed fruit. It was Bob who dragged me to an Asian Market to buy durian for the SI picnic after tracking a source down through an Asian restaurant where we had a really excellent authentic meal and I had my first and last taste of Nuoc Mam. He hung the durian outside on his patio and we put it in the trunk of the Mysterious Lurker's rental car for transport. As it thawed, it radiated a never-to-be-forgotten odor up through the car seats that permeated our journey.
Those of us who shared in the sacred durian rite are joined forever by a bond more powerful than blood. Holly ate most of it if I remember correctly, though, which probably tells you a great deal about Holly. And Alexa made a pretense of tasting it-but she never swallowed.
