Hi Andy, really feel this is a good subject for
a thread. It may just take a while though.
Speaking of the effects of latency, some say
it will be hard if not impossible to achieve
3D of quality in a multiplayer mode. These kinds
stones lay right in the path of folks like 3Dfx
angling for ultimate gaming experience ala Voodoo.
Microprose has quite a lineup on the PC software
side that is attractive specifically for its
multiplayer design. In your considered opinion, where
do you see resolution to the lag problem coming from?
New compression technology, cable modems, dedicated
lines and optimized server protocols? Maybe there is
quite a bit that can still be done with existing modem
technology. Whatever your thoughts are, thanks in advance.
