Yo StockZon,
Supp??
Future prospects? - well, that depends in large part on the success of Windows CE 2.0. Intrinsyc's tools are geared toward software developers for the WinCE market. If WinCE does not go - well, that could be bad for INTRINSYC.
Having said that, there is rarely a day passes where there is no mention of a deal or affiliation or connection from one company to another without some reference to Windows CE - Nokia, Siemens, Kodak, Data General, Casio, Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi, NEC, Philips, AMD, MIPS, Toshiba.....you get the drift.
Consequently, I see Windows CE as gaining a foot-hold - rightly or wrongly - it doesn't matter, fact is: if it becomes the de facto standard for embedded computing then INTRINSYC is in there like a dirty old shirt.
Now - how will INTRINSYC stand up to the powerhouse of the KingPin - Microsoft? - Well, that's the question isn't it? Does MSFT like ICS or just tolerate ICS or need ICS.......That will only become apparent in the fullness of time. What is known is that:
INTRINSYC SOFTWARE INC. is a co-sponsor of the 1998 Windows CE Developers Conference, scheduled for April 6-8/98. microsoft.com
Intrinsyc has been invited to MSFT's booth during Comdex in Las Vegas in Nov/97.
From what I can glean, INTRINSYC has little to no competition in the server market for embedded systems.
Nicholas Negroponte argues that the internet will be overwhelmed by computing appliances in the next few years. infoworld.com
Will INTRINSYC reap the rewards? - Who knows? This industry turns on a dime, BUT if you have the technical brains, business savy and market knowledge that Derek Spratt seems to have - well.....INTRINSYC may do OK.
Any thoughts??
Hey Rob Landy, hsg, theBare et all, c'mon back.....get some discussion going here....
