glass, welcome aboard. I think that it is not up to the US to prevent an Asian recession, but up to Asians and particularly up to Japan. Our trade deficit has just ballooned to a record monthly high of more than $12 B (and this when our oil bill has declined by some 30%), we will not be able to help SEA by importing much more. No, the Asian recession can be ameliorated (but not avoided) only by Japan lowering its own taxes and creating a domestic demand engine to soak some of the over capacity in the region. I think we will get an inkling as to the future health of the Asian economies after April 1, when the Nikkei support actions will be removed.
